Imphal, May 31 2011: A 20-year old woman was knocked down today by a bullet proof vehicle of the Bishnupur police commandos at Kwakeithel Bazar along the Tidim road.

With injuries at chest, shoulder, hands and legs, she has been rushed to Shija hospital.

Meisnam Chanbi (20) daughter of late Shyamkishore of Kwakeithel Thounaojam Leikai was knocked down by the police commando vehicle bearing registration no.MN01-W/4732 around 10 am.

According to witnesses, the police vehicle coming from Imphal side drove non-stop even after knocking down the woman who was moving on foot.

A 60-year old man, Narajan Das of Nambol Phoijing came to the rescue of the woman by shouting for help in evacuating her to a hospital.

An auto-rickshaw driver responded his call and they hospitalized her at RIMS hospital.

Doctors at RIMS hospital referred him to Shija hospital as her sustained serious injuries.

After they were informed of the injuring the woman, Bishnupur police commandos showed up at the RIMS hospital and inquired about the condition of the woman.
