Awareness campaign held

Shangshak Battalion of 10 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (South) organised a lecture on drug abuse at Kasong Company Operating Base on January 29.The lecture was attended by all the nearby villages of Kasong Company and the villagers were educated about drug abuse and addiction, sexually transmitted diseases, first aid at home during emergencies and scabies - causes and prevention.
Later, a medical camp was conducted where basic medical assistance was provided to the villagers.
On the other hand, Mantripukhri Battalion of 9 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (South) also conducted an awareness campaign for drug free Manipur at Paramount English School on January 28.The campaign was organised by Hanuman Top Company Operating Base and witnessed an attendance by over 50 students and teachers of the school.
The campaign enlightened the students about the ill effects of drug usage on human body and various measures to counter drug menace.
As part of the campaign, an interactive lecture, display of various charts and poster distribution of pamphlets to the students was carried out to generate awareness about drug issue among students.
In addition, students were also informed about various options of joining the Indian Armed Forces.
The students and the school authority expressed profound gratitude to the Assam Rifles for regularly organising such awareness campaigns.
