DGP LM Khaute has asserted that Jiribam district police have taken up special measures to prevent a possible influx of illegal migrants into the State in view of the publication of the final draft of the "National Register of Citizens" (NRC) in Assam.
In addition to the police deployed at Jiribam district, two company of Manipur Rifles along with IRB and women security personnel have been sent to maintain vigil at the district, he stated.
According to an official source from the Home Department, the State Government has failed to supply security personnel requested by Assam Government in connection with the publication of NRC.
He also stated that intense verification drive for illegal migrants will be conducted at Mao and Jiribam.
