UTLA chief flays govt, calls off stir

The proposed NH-37 blockade by United Tribal Liberation Army (UTLA) has been called off in public interest, stated a press release signed by SK Thadou, who claimed himself to the chairman of the outfit.
In the press release, SK Thadou condemned the forced surrender of its cadres by the government claiming that they were waiting for the election to over for holding peace talk as per the agreement made with Chief Minister O Ibobi and the then DGP Y Joykumar.
SK Thadou also denounced the burning of UTLA's temporary camp at Vangai Range allegedly by troopers of 22 Assam Rifles.
On the other hand, the press release has questioned why the Longpi SDC office has been shifted at Khoupum Naga village.
Asking all the staffs of government schools in Tuilang Khun (Irang) and Vangai area to attend their schools within April 10, unless they to face action from UTLA; SK Thadou also called upon the Railway authority to rename the Dholakhal Railway Station as Vangai Chungpao Railway Station.
The UTLA group which had signed the agreement of Suspension of Operation (SoO) with the government was a faction of UTLA and the remaining UTLA cadres under his command are not interested in SoO but in peace talk, SK Thadou claimed.
