Imphal, April 28 2018: Troops of Jwalamukhi Bn under the aegis of Senapati Brigade along with personnel of Saikul police arrested one person along with 653 kgs of Ganja yesterday at Saikul bazar in Kangpokpi district.

In a statement, PIB (Defence Wing) said that the joint team intercepted a Bolero (MN05C-2559) in which the individual was coming at Saikul bazar yesterday following inputs of Ganja smuggling.

During a search of the vehicle, the joint team uncovered 653 kgs of Ganja packed in different packets (3 packets of 12 Kgs each, 21 packets of 13 Kgs each, 16 packets of 14 Kgs each and 8 packets of 15 Kgs each).

The arrested person has been identified as Thangpu Hangshing, (42) s/oH Chaoba of N Phailen Saikul, Sadar Hills East sub-division, Senapati district.

Aadhaar Card, driving licence, Indian currency of Rs 1000/ were also recovered from the individual.

An FIR has been lodged at Saikul PS and the apprehended individual and recovered items have been handed over to Saikul police yesterday.
