Pregnant woman carried on bamboo stretcher for 80 kms, gives birth at CCpur Hospital

A pregnant woman who was carried on a bamboo stretcher for about 80 kms gave birth to a baby boy at Churachandpur Hospital, today.
Speaking to The Sangai Express, president of Kuki Khanglai Lompi (KKL), Kamthan Haokip said that the baby boy is the first child of Nemneikim (24) and husband Souminthang of Henglep, Churachandpur.

Stating that the family members of Nemneikim were preparing for home birth, but changed the plan as her conditions deteriorated, Kamthan continued that the woman was carried on a bamboo stretcher by the villagers on foot for about 80 kms (Henglep to Bunglon) to reach the hospital.
They reached the hospital at around 10 am .
The villagers carried the woman for about 7 hours on a muddy and slippery Henglep-Bunglon road by taking rest at certain points, he said, adding that Nemneikim complaint of severe stomach aches during the journey.
Kamthan then said that the distressed woman was taken to the district hospital from Bunglon by an ambulance arranged by Kuki Khanglai Lompi.
After reaching the hospital, the woman was attended by doctors there as an emergency case.
She gave birth to a baby boy.
