KSA bans book allegedly containing misleading information about Manipur

Kangleipak Students' Association (KSA) has claimed that a book written by T Raatan and published by Isha Publication Delhi, titled "History, Religion and Culture of North East India" includes major informations about Manipur and its tradition which have been falsely published.
Speaking to media persons at a press meet held at KSA office in Khuyathong, KSA secretary general Seram Hemjit claimed that a portion in the book, from page 107, discusses and includes datas about the history of Manipur, its culture, traditii an etc which have been wrongly published and will mislead the people.
Citing some examples from the book, he stated that the book has published that the State was once called "Mohindrapore" and one a random name "Bubra Baha" was given as the name of the king who changed the name to Manipur.
He further stated that the annexation of Manipur in 1949 was falsely written as 1826 and the book had published that the annexation happened after "1926 treaty of Yandaboo".
He stated that such false claims have misinterpreted the history of Manipur to everyone.
According to the book, the State after receiving independence from the British regime in August 15, 1947 was asked to choose whether to join India or Pakistan, he conveyed.
He stated that the book further categorized the Manipuri language into two, the Meetei language and Bishnupriya Manipuri language and added that the data inside the book also falsely stated that "Maiba" (Meitei priest) followed Hinduism.
Stating that the book has humiliated the age old tradition and culture of Manipur, he stated that the book also included meaningless and false information which can tarnish the reputation of Maibis (Meitei priestess).
Hemjit continued that the book has also reported that majority of the Meeteis belong to Aryan blood, which can mislead and alter the very history and culture of the State.
He further claimed that the book has continued to discuss and report false information about the history, art, culture and tradition of Manipur and has allegedly attempted to mislead the people.
KSA conveyed that the association has now banned the book, "History, Religion and Culture of North East India" following the uncountable errors and misinformation.
Considering the welfare of the future generation and to prevent them from learning wrong and misleading history of Manipur, KSA has appealed all book store to refrain from selling this particular book as well.
KSA further cautioned Isha Publishing House to clarify the matter within 10 days and added that the association will ban all books published by Isha Publishing House if it fails to straighten the matter within the stipulated time.
The association further appealed all authors/writers to refrain from including information which has no reference or no valid source while writing their books.
T Raatan is originally from Arunachal and is presently holding the post of Director, Public Libraries, Itanagar, he added.
