Imphal, December 26 2020:
Left political parties of Manipur namely Communist Party of India-Marxist CPI (M), the All India Forward Bloc (AIFB), Revolutionary Socialist Party (RSP) and Communist Party of India (CPI) demanded for repeal of the controversial Farm Laws along with the Electricity (Amendment) Bill 2020 .
In a joint statement, the Left parties reaffirmed their stand with the farmers and stated that they are strongly against the Farm laws and urged the Central Government to repeal them in the interest of the farmers and the people of the country at large.
They alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister N Biren and BJP are falsely accusing the Opposition parties of lying to the farmers and using them (farmers) for mere political benefits.
Such accusations are a complete travesty of the truth as the Opposition parties are only seeking reforms to strengthen agriculture sector, enhance prosperity of farmers and ensure food security for the people, it added.
They also urged the Central Government to hold a discussion on agrarian reforms with the farmers and all stakeholders after repealing the present Farm Laws.
New enactments should be done by the Parliament by convening a special or a joint session after due consultation with farmers and other stakeholders.
Further the Left parties also informed that they are ready for open discussion on the Farm Laws in any form.
