Bishnupur, June 26 2021:
While stating that the Covid-19 pandemic is a war against humanity where one fights from their home and restricts people from meeting one another, Rajya Sabha MP Leishemba Sanajaoba said that current pandemic would be much more severe than any wars fought with conventional weapon in the future.
Briefly interacting with those who came for Covid vaccination at Ibudhou Nongda Lairen Pakhangbagi Laibung, Kwashiphai on Saturday, the MP said that the pandemic has now spanned more than 15/16 months.
After intense research to produce medicines for preventing spread of the virus, vaccines have been developed.
However, it is unfortunate that some individual(s) with vested political motives and false religious concepts are spreading unverified reports consequently making the masses hesitant to take the vaccine, Sanajaoba contended.
Administering vaccine, maintaining SOP guidelines lay down by government, frequent hand washing and restricting gathering of people could prevent and save people from Covid-19 third wave, he maintained while informing that he too received the first dose of Covid vaccine in April and is waiting for the second.
Taking the first dose ensures 40 per cent protection from the virus while completion of both doses would make the vaccine recipients 90 per cent resistant from the infectious disease, he explained.
Urging everyone to extend help in making Kwasiphai a Covid free village, Sanajaoba assured of inaugurating the sanathong (gate) of Ibudhou Nongda Lairen Pakhangba located at Kwashiphai by May/June next year.
Around 400 people who are above 18 years of age were administered Covid vaccine during the mass vaccination camp organised by Kwashiphai Youth Volunteer Organisation and held under the supervision of PHC Ningthoukhong MO in-charge Dr Pinky.
It was also attended by Micro Small and Medium Enterprises board member and political advisor to the MP Robin Blackie, MP nominee Th Saratchandra Singh, CMO Bishnupur Dr N Gyaneshwar, wife of MP Haobam Anamika, COVID 19 Relief Committee Bishnupur convenor N Joykumar and Khoijuman Kwashiphai Gram Panchayat ex-pradhan N Ibopishak among others.
