Save Irom Sharmila's life: Mom

"MY DAUGHTER Sharmila is fasting for the last 12 years demanding to repeal Armed Forces Special Forces 1958 (AFSPA) and I would like to appeal to the public to save her life", said Irom Sharmila's mother, Irom (O) Shakhileima.
Shakhileima was conferred with the 4th Best Mother Award on the occasion of 5th Kanglei Ningol Numit observance held under the joint aegis of Ningol Khongchat Lup (NIKHOL) and Kanglei Enat Youkhatpa Lup at Nongdon Community Hall, Nambol in Bishnupur district on Wednesday.
While accepting the award, Shakhileima said that her daughter is fasting for more than a decade only to fulfill one dream - to repeal Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) and now it is in the hands of the people of Manipur to save her life.
Expressing his sorrow over the present status of public movement for revocation of the Military Act and the deteriorating health of 'Iron Lady' Sharmila, Chairperson of Nambol Municipal Council, Heishnam Somorjit, who attended the function as Chief Guest, pointed out that earlier of the state people used to participate in public function or social development events in large number but the time has changed and most people are today reluctant from participating in such events.
Ningthoujam Poireinganba Mangang, President of Kanglei Enat Yokhatpa Lup and Sanoujam (O) Ibemhal Leima, President of NIKHOL jointly presided over by the 5th Kanglei Ningol Numit observance.
