Acting chairman among PREPAK trio killed in road mishap

The proscribed People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) has deeply condoled the demise of three key functionaries of the outfit including acting chairman Khumujam Ratan alias Sathy.
According to a PREPAK statement, acting chairman Ratan alias Sathy alias Hera alias Awangba Meitei (58) of Singjamei Chinga Makha Sorokhaibam Leikai, organisation secretary Mayengbam Joychand alias Joy Luwang alias Chamba alias Michael of Singjamei Mayengbam Leikai and GSO-1 RK Ramananda alias Basan alias Rozer of Sagolband Bijoy Govinda died in a road accident that took place inside a thick forest at about 5pm on May 23.PREPAK and its armed wing Red Army deeply condoled the sudden demise of the three key functionaries of the outfit, the statement said, adding that late acting chairman Sathy joined PREPAK in March 1982 and began taking active role in the revolutionary movement after becoming valley commander in 1991.He then became general secretary in 2011 and then the permanent representative of the outfit to CorCom.
Later, he began taking more responsibilities by becoming acting chairman in November, 2014 and also became treasurer of CorCom from June, 2018 till his last breath.
The statement further said that Michael Luwang joined the outfit in July, 1994 and took responsibility as finance coordinator from 2004 to 2011.From June, 2011 till his last breath, Michael was organisation secretary of the outfit and permanent member of CorCom's sub-committee, Home Committee.
Late GSO1 RK Rozer joined PREPAK in July, 1996 and became finance commander of Imphal West from October, 2004 October to March, 2011.He served as GSO-1 from November, 2014 till his last breath, the PREPAK statement issued by its publicity officer of the department of publicity and propaganda Achouba said.
The statement further said the untimely demise of the three functionaries will be a great loss for the outfit and the void left by them would be hard to fill.
Following demise of acting chairman, the central committee of the outfit has been dissolved with effect from May 24 and a five-member interim council has been formed with finance secretary Aheiba Angom elected as chairman unanimously.
The interim council will shoulder responsibility to look after the outfit till the formation of new central committee by holding National Party Congress (NPC) .
