Orientation workshop on IMI held

A one day orientation workshop on Intensified Mission Indradhanush was organized by Regional Outreach Bureau (ROB), Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, GoI Imphal at ROB auditorium today.
Speaking on the occasion as the chief guest, Health Minister L Jayantakumar stated that IMI is an important and significant programme.
The Government should give primary importance to the health sector so as to make the society and the State stronger, he said, while adding that focus should also be given on decreasing Infant Mortality Rate, apart from decreasing the death rate and increasing life expectancy of the State's population.
Informing that Manipur is at the top of the list when it comes to IMI in the country, which is a proud moment for the State, the Minister said that ROB plays a crucial role in this matter.
On the other hand, regarding the rumours about Choronavirus (a virus originating from China) reaching Ukhrul district and claiming lives in the area, the Minister clarified that the news is not true and informed that a team of experts, who visited Ukhrul and conducted several tests, had confirmed that the said virus is not present in Ukhrul.
As such; the public should not panic, as the virus has not reached the State, he explained.
Meanwhile, the Minister lauded the media outreach programs initiated by the Government.
He encouraged the media to highlight the health sector more, so that people can get full benefit out of the various Government schemes, thus bringing about a better society.
Additional Director General, PIB, Imphal D J Narain highlighted the various schemes and programmes under Mission Indradhanush.
He said that 300 programmes and workshops on Mission Indradhanush will be carried out in various districts of Manipur.
State Immunization Officer of Family Welfare Department Dr Th Nand Kishore, who attended the event as the guest of honour, explained about the implementation of IMI in the State.
