2 jawans, sniffer dog hurt in twin bomb attack

Imphal, November 23 2012:
At least two personnel of 18th Sikh Regiment and their sniffer dog were wounded in a twin bomb attack near Laingam village in Sagolmang Sapam Leikai along NH-37 this morning.
The proscribed UNLF has claimed that the attack was carried out by cadres of its armed wing, MPA.
The incident took place at around 5:45 am today.
The twin bomb blast occurred simultaneously when a team of 18th Sikh Regiment attached to Patsoi PS was on its ROP duty.
In the bomb attack, a Naik Subedar, a Dog Master and a sniffer dog sustained minor injuries.
Both the bombs were planted along the southern side of the road.
According to police reports, both the bombs were IEDs triggered with the help of a remote control device.
After the bomb attacks, the personnel of 18th Sikh Regiment allegedly resorted to beating up of innocent villagers who were ploughing the fields and those in a mechanic workshop.
Security personnel also picked up six villagers including two workshop mechanics.
The villagers who have been apprehended by the Army personnel are K Amo (20); K Yaima; N Sanathoi (37); Kh Jiten (44).All of them are from Konthoujam.
The two workshop mechanics are Inao from Kakching and Pilot from Wangoo.
