Awareness programme conducted

Food Safety Administration (FSA), Imphal WestDistrict has organised an awareness programme on "Food Safety and Registration and Licensing of Street Food Business Operators (SFBOs)" at Keishampat, Kwakeithel Bazaar, Ghari and Malom yesterday.
The programme was conducted under the direction of Dr S Rajen Singh, Joint Food Safety Commissioner, Directorate of Health Services, Government of Manipur, and Food Safety Officers namely H Premkumar Singh, L Saratchandra Singh, U Arunkumar Singh and under the supervision of Yumnam Surendro Singh, Designated Officer, FSA, Imphal West.
According to a release issued by FSA, Imphal West, the awareness programme was conducted with the aim to identify the number of SFBOs in Imphal West District and spread awareness about food safety, registration & Licensing.
Under section 31.1 (Licensing and Registration of Food Business), no person shall commerce or carry on any food business except under a license.
All Food Business Operators including SFBOs under Imphal West District should apply for FSSAI Registration and License to the concerned authority of FSA at the office premise of Chief Medical Officer, Imphal West District before starting their food business.
All Street food business operators should strictly follow the practices like Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Hygienic Practices (GHP), GPH (Good Personal Hygiene) of Food handlers, Good Sanitary Practices (GSP), etc to ensure that consumers get standardized, safe and wholesome foods.
In order to provide standardized, safe and wholesome foods like fresh fruits, semi-processed, processed, cooked, beverages, etc prepared by street food vendors under Imphal West District to the general consumers, officials of FSA, Imphal West may take up necessary steps mentioned under the Food Safety and Standards Rules and Regulations.
