Nungbi Khullen enlightens on its archival value

Jointly organized by Nungbi Khullen Village Authority and Manipur State Archives, a one day archival awareness programme was held at Nungbi Khullen Panchayat compound on August 19 .
The function was graced by Dr K Sushila, Deputy Director of Manipur State Archives; AS Shaingam, Village Chief of Nungbi Khullen and Nomita Khongbantabam, reporter cum columnist of Hueiyen Lanpao as Chief Guest, President and Guest of Honour respectively.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr K Shushila pointed out that among the various products produced in Nungbi Khullen, the stone pots, which are locally known as Nungbi Chaphou, is one of the most valuable item.
There is great demand for Nungbi Chaphou not only in Manipur but also in other parts of the country.
So, the unique craft of making this product should be preserved and promoted for producing Nungbi Chaphou on large scale.
The villagers of Nungbi Khullen should also try to get all the benefits being extended by the state government, Dr Sushila exhorted, while assuring all possible help from the side of State Archives in this regard.
K Arei, one of the local resource persons, who was also present on the occasion, thanked the State Archives and the people from the plains for coming down to Nungbi Khullen to enlighten the people of the village on matters of state importance.
So, it is the duty of the villagers to come together and work for the development of the village with the co-operation of the government.
Nomita Khongbantabam also spoke on the different aspects of the traditional songs and dance and various other art forms of Manipur as well as on the role of the State Archive in promotion of these art forms through presentation of various awards, fellowships and scholarships to the artisans.
