TPR continues to rise; one dies, 178 infected

Imphal, September 20 2021: The daily positivity rate continues to rise even as the state reported one death case and 178 new positive cases of Covid-19 out of 2034 samples tested on Monday, thus registering a positivity rate of 8.75 per cent against Sunday's 8.04 per cent.

Though the overall positivity rate on Sunday remained in single digit, Imphal East (13.5 per cent), Churachandpur (12.5 per cent), Ukhrul (11.9 per cent) and Imphal West (10.5 per cent) districts recorded double digit positivity rate.

The active caseload rose to 2183 out of which 385 (17.64 per cent) are in home isolation, 640 (29.32 per cent) in CHICs, 772 (35.36 per cent) in CCCs and 386 (17.68 per cent) in hospitals.

Among the hospitalised patients, 73 are admitted to ICU/HDU wards, 109 are on oxygen support and 27 on ventilator support.

However, there is no report on number of patients on oxygen and ventilator support from JNIMS though it has 157 patients.

On the other hand, there are seven patients on oxygen support in different CCCs.

As of Monday evening, 610 beds including 107 ICU/HDU beds are available in different hospitals.

There is no updated information on bed vacancy in other facilities but as of Sunday evening 2705 beds were available in different Covid Care Centres and 390 beds (26 ICU/HDU) in district hospitals and CHCs.

So far, the state has recorded 89,273 positive cases and 1458 fatalities since the beginning of the second wave of the pandemic.

The current month recorded 4740 new cases and 50 fatalities out of which 1443 new cases and 20 fatalities were added in the last seven days alone.

According to official reports, the 178 new positive cases included 177 people (84 male & 93 female) from among the general population and one jawan of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) whose samples were detected at RIMS (24), JNIMS (13) and other testing centres (141).The positive cases from among the general population are from Imphal East (60), Imphal West (66), Thoubal (3), Bishnupur (8), Kakching (2), Ukhrul (14), Churachandpur (10), Chandel (2), Senapati (2), Tamenglong (8), Pherzawl (1) and Kangpokpi (1).All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.

The lone death case reported in the last 24 hours was a resident of Imphal West district and she had not received any vaccine doses.

With this, the cumulative number of deaths has reached 1832.In the last 24 hours, 183 patients were discharged from home isolation (49), RIMS (6), JNIMS (9), CCCs (113) and CHICs (6).The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 1,18,673 (general population - 1,14,433 and CAPF personnel - 4,240).Number of recovered cases is 1,14,658 (general population - 1,10,477 and CAPF personnel - 4,181) and number of active cases is 2,183 (general population - 2,129 and CAPF personnel - 54).The recovery rate is 96.62 per cent.

In the last 24 hours, 1103 D-type and 232 B-type Oxygen cylinders were distributed to different health facilities.

Only 620 vaccine doses were administered on Sunday taking the cumulative number of vaccinated individuals to 12,14,879 including 4,12,284 fully vaccinated individuals.

Meanwhile, four new positive cases were detected out of 99 samples tested in Kakching district on Monday.

One case was detected at Jivan Hospital and three at government RAT site, according to DSP Kakching Dr Kesho.

As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (40,582), Imphal East (26,267), Thoubal (9284), Churachandpur (9949), Kangpokpi (2729), Tamenglong (3244), Bishnupur (8931), Senapati (2174), Ukhrul (2603), Kakching (6305), Chandel (2247), Noney (1057), Tengnoupal (1030), Jiribam (1015), Kamjong (823) and Pherzawl (433).Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (610), Imphal East (431), Thoubal (168), Churachandpur (156), Kangpokpi (57), Tamenglong (13), Bishnupur (185), Senapati (8), Ukhrul (31), Kakching (110), Chandel (35), Noney (4), Tengnoupal (13), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (4) and Pherzawl (0).Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 38,245 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 23,990 CPM.

Test rate has improved to 4,09,046 tests per million population against the national average of 3,96,437 TPM.

Case fatality rate stands at 1.54 per cent.

In the past 24 hours, only 2034 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 8.75 per cent per cent while the cumulative positivity stands at 9.35 per cent.
