DESAM volunteers to continue fasting

The hunger strike by the DESAM volunteers will continue until the Manipur Govt passes a bill in the assembly to protect the indigenous communities of the state, announced alliance general secretary Pukhrambam Premchandra on Thursday.
During a press meet here at DESAM office, Premchandra said that many students and volunteers of DESAM have started indefinite hunger strike at the alliance headquarter office and Thoubal district.
The health condition of the hunger strikers is worsening, the DESAM leader said.
Keishampat Thiyam Leikai Chaokhat Thourang Lup, Keishampat Aheibam Leirak Meira Paibi Lup, womens of Thangmeiband Thingel Leikai, Women Association for Socio Economic Development, Kanglei Women Society, Brauni Club, Mothers of Kwai Lalambung Makhong, Keishamthong Longjam Leirak Meira Paibi Lup, Kongpal Lai Hiden Lamjing Meira Paibi Women Welfare Association, Kongba Nongthombam Leikai Women Association and Keishampat Keisham Leikai Meira Paibi Lup have extended support to the hunger strike.
Several leaders of various women organisations are guarding the students at the protest sites, said Premchandra.
