Imphal, May 20 2024:
The Government of the People's Republic of Nagalim (GPRN/NSCN) has said that that the political upheaval in Myanmar and the burgeoning ethnic violence in Manipur are absolutely two different things and they cannot be observed through the same lens.
According to a GPRN/NSCN statement issued by its director of Publicity and Information Bureau of the Naga Army general headquarters Maj Gen Hanleishang-MC, the geo-political impact of the ongoing turmoil in Myanmar cannot be overlooked and accordingly the outfit has been closely monitoring the situation affecting innocent people under the aggravating circumstances.
The GPRN/NSCN statement said that the present violence in Manipur is between two communities and the Nagas are not a party to one or the other warring com munities.
On the other hand, the conflict in Myanmar is primarily a pro-democratic revolution against the military Junta that has been in place since 2021 .
It is now an open secret that the US and the Indian government have been aiding the militia called PDF (People s Defence Force) to overthrow the Junta government in Myanmar.
As far as the conflict in Myanmar is concerned, GPRN/NSCN is not indifferent to the ethnic communities and their movement in particular.
The outfit has no issue against the PDF of Chin State and other areas but well aware of the fact that the KNA (B) have been collaborating with the PDF in the Chin State, to which it has no objection.
However, it was very unfortunate that KNA (B) have taken inimical stance against the NSCN, deliberately targeting the Naga Army operating in the area.
In an inhumane and unprofessional manner, KNA (B) had abducted and tortured to death some of GPRN/NSCN cadres, as per confirmed source.
In all these, the sinister hands of the Indian Intelligence (RAW) become obvious when, at their instigation, troops of Para Forces and Assam Rifles were pumped in across the border who armed the Kuki militants with drones, artilleries and other sophisticated weapons.
This again exposes the double-standard characteristic of the India's foreign policy, when in the earlier instances, Indian Army helped the Tatmadaw (Myanmarese Army) to destroy GPRN/NSCN base camps in the border areas but now they are at loggerheads.
The GPRN/NSCN statement further said that one may wonder what India has to gain by waging this proxy war but it is left to the wisdom of her advisors to discern for themselves what India might lose out of this misadventure.
