Illegal fireworks banned

Senapati, November 19 2017:
District Magistrate, Senapati has imposed re- striction on import, manufacture, possession or use of illegal fireworks.
The order came following instruction of Ministry of Commerce and Industry, GOI vide letter No 6/17/2014-C&I dated 28/10/ 2017 of the Under Secretary, Textiles, Commerce and Industry, GOM.
A press release issued by the DM today said that most of the fireworks smuggled into the country contain 'potassium chlorate' which is dangerous and hazardous chemical and may explode spontaneously.
Fireworks fall under restricted category I of items under ITC (HS) as per EXIM Policy and no license for import under the Explosive rules, 2008 has been issued till date.
Besides manufacture, possession or use of any explosives consisting of or containing sulphur or sulphurate in admixture with any chlorate is banned in the country vide notification GSR No.64(E) dated 27/01/ 11992, the press release said.
