Tousem sub-division reels under connectivity woes

Tousem sub-vivision of Tamenglong district is reeling under severe connectivity issues due to Government apathy and negligence.
All connectivity to the sub-division has been cut off apart from acute lack of medical facilities and electricity.
Talking to Hueiyen Lanpao, NH Ramsing, vice president of Village Authority Chairmen Council Tousem sub-division said that the road connecting Kaphundai and Tousem sub-division has remained cut off since June this year due to torrential rains which had led to landslides and creation of potholes along the road.
Now Tousem sub-division has not received any FCS rice and other items.
Moreover, there has been no power supply since March 26 last.
An alternative route connecting Tousem sub-division from Tamenglong to Tousem headquarters has also been cut off.
As a result, many students who are studying in Jiribam and Silchar and in the area have been facing untold suffering.
Reports are saying that many children were getting sick with diarrhea and coughing besides infecting with different diseases.
There are no doctors or nurses available at PHC, PHSCs in the area due to the connectivity problem.
Two minors from New Mandeu village identified as Namkualungbe (4), son of Rahulung died on August 31 while Eleiwangbe (4) son of Zakariah died on September 3, informed Ramsing.
He said the Chief Medical Officer, Tamenglong has been apprised of the problems and appealed to the authorities concerned to look into the matter as the general public are facing tremendous hardship.
