Assam Rifles refutes RPF's claim

Imphal, October 18 2012: Refuting the charges made by banned RPF in some dailies on Thursday regarding use of a surrendered cadre namely Joychandra alias Roneshan, s/o M Gopal in anti-social activities; Assam Rifles today asserted that Joychadra is a Lance Corporal of PLA who is involved in planting IEDs in Thoubal district.

In a statement, PRO, HQ IGAR (South) claimed that Joychandra was involved in recent terror activities in conjunction with other PLA terrorists.

The troops of 27 AR nabbed him from Hiyanglam near Kakching, Thoubal district on 16th October, 2012 and handed over to Kakching police on the same day.

However, in the police station he continued to hide the fact of his earlier surrender in 2010 to cover his tracks and the fact that he had gone back to his old ways and joined the outfit again while wanting to continue the facilities provided to the surrenderees by the government.

Meanwhile, Red Shield Division apprehended 2 (two) women over grounds (OG) belonging to banned PREPAK (PRO) and KYKL from Khordak, Kumbi Police Station and Nongmaikhong, Yaikhong Police Station areas respectively on Thursday.

According to a release by PIB (Defence Wing) the arrested PREPAK (PRO) OG has been identified as Salam Mangolnganbi of Khordak.

While, the KYKL OG has been identified as Ibemcha of Nongmaikhong, PO Kakching.
