BJP hails centre's resolve to address Manipur issues

While expressing elation over the information relayed by union home minister Amit Shah with regard to activities taken up in Manipur as part of the first 100 days' programme in the third term of the PM Narendra Modi-led BJP government, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Manipur Pradesh has invited suggestions and support from the people for restoring peace in the state.
Addressing the media at its Thambal Shanglen, here, on Wednesday, BJP Manipur Pradesh general secretary P Premananda mentioned the union home minister s statements that the external elements caused current turmoil in Manipur and stressed the need for preventing the same.
After a brief lull, the Indo-Myanmar border fencing resumed and funds were sanctioned to fence around 398km stretch of the bor-der, with 30km completed so far.
In addition, the centre has deployed CRPF units in sensitive border areas, he stated.
The secretary stated that while the free movement regime was initially established with good intention, the results have shown otherwise.
The regime, which allowed illegal immigrants to come to Manipur, has been removed and now all are required to possess visa to enter India.
Highlighting the importance of the process for bringing a solution to the conflict, he further stated that the central government had made it clear earlier for bringing together the two sides for a dialogue and restoring peace in the state.
Though the protracted violence has inflated prices of essential commodities, numerous essential items are now being made available to the people at subsidised rates through Central Police Canteens at 16 different locations, Premananda said, while commending the CM's initiative to open more Fair Price Shops at 18 different locations.
Joining the media briefing, vice president N Nimbus said that under the PM Modi's leadership, India is now being recognised as a nuclear superpower apart from different projects and schemes launched by the government greatly benefitting the people including the poor, entrepreneurs and youth.
In his address, BJP state general secretary N Deben Singh, said that both the government and the party are trying their level best to restore peace and normalcy in the state, and as such, he invited suggestions from the public while also appealing for their support in this regard.
