Imphal, September 18 2018:
Decrying that some office bearers of the so called Inpui, Rongmei and Liangmei councils have gone too far in their efforts to shield NSCN-IM cadres and reiterating their demand for arrest of NSCN-IM's CAO (Deputy Kilonser) Thailik alias Joel and S/S captain Khangdih Gangmei, the Zeliangrong Civil Organisations (ZCOs) has asserted that they will continue to ban all National projects in Zeliangrong areas.
The ZCOs, in a statement, decried that some individuals who claimed to be the office bearers of the so called "Inpui", "Rongmei" and "Liangmai" councils have gone too far in their efforts to shield those underground cadres belonging to NSCN (IM) who were involved in curtailing freedom of activities of law abiding citizens, intimidation, threatening life and security of citizens and subsequent detention of youth and student leaders on August 4 at Tamenglong district Hqs as if they are above the law.
The youth and student leaders detained by the NSCN (IM) were released only when the army and security forces had taken up swift and timely action.
Sheer determination of some individuals under the garb of social organizations trying to justify and cover up the anti-social and unlawful activities of NSCN (IM) by way of repeatedly issuing press releases at the behest of the UG group with an ulterior motive to demean fundamental rights of citizens enshrined in the Indian Constitution deserves stern and immediate action as per law of the land so that the rampant unlawful and anti-social activities committed by underground cadres particularly by NSCN (IM) on citizens in coordination with some vested interested individuals are checked effectively.
The so called tribe councils trying to portray the Zeliangrong Civil Organizations in poor light will further expose the role and the nexus between the so called tribe councils and the UG group in committing anti-social and unlawful activities.
Regarding the assertion of some irresponsible individuals that there is no Zeliangrong, the ZCOs clarified that the Zeliangrong has been there since the beginning and it will be there till the end.
The assertion by the so called tribe councils based on the orders manufactured out of administrative manipulation which granted "separate tribe recognition" without thorough verification and seconded by NSCN (IM) cannot be the basis to break the Zeliangrong family into pieces.
The NSCN (IM)'s claim that they have convinced the Govt, of India and the latter has recognized the unique history of Nagas has become a mockery when they have been distorting the unique history of Zeliangrong people who are the founder of the Naga political movement, it said.
Those individuals who claimed to be functionaries of the so called tribe councils (Inpui, Liangmai, Rongmei, Zeme) should know that the only legitimate and universally acceptable basis to determine a tribe is by way of anthropological survey and not by way of administrative manipulation or diktats of any underground organization.
No section of people can be classified as separate tribe based on topography, direction, region, dialect, physical structure, group or clan etc.
Therefore, the Zeliangrong people who are descendents of a common ancestry cannot be known as separate tribes or different people in whatsoever manner even if NSCN (IM) issues thousands suuch orders, the ZCOs asserted.
It is high time for the Govt of India and State Govt to take up stringent action against those individuals who always came out in the forefront just to defend anti-social and unlawful activities of UG groups particularly the NSCN (IM) in the guise of dubious organisations whenever the Zeliangrong people represented by the Zeliangrong Civil Organizations demanded the authority concerned to take up necessary action as per law of the land against the NSCN (IM) cadres.
The ZCOs in order to draw the attention of the Govt of India and State Govt regarding the threat to life and security of leaders of the Zeliangrong people will continue the indefinite ban on the construction works of National projects in Zeliangrong areas until and unless the Govt of India and State Govt take up appropriate steps to safeguard citizens.
Any negative consequences shall be the responsibility of the Govt, it added.
