Cancer screening booth opened at Khwairamband

Imphal, July 18 2022: Under Karkinos Health Care North East Private Limited, a basic screening and risk assessment booth for six types of cancer was inaugurated by former health services director Dr K Rajo at Khwairamband Keithel here on Monday.

The inaugural function presided over by Karkinos CEO/director professor Dr GS Moirangthem was also attended Imphal West SP Ksh Shivakanta, Imphal Municipal Corporation assistant commissioner Ksh Gyanendra Singh, Khwairamband Nupi Keithel Sinpham Amadi Saktam Kanba Lup Ksh Santi, Khwairamband Nupi Keithel Semgat Sagatpa Lup president Rk Radhesana and secretary Th Ibetombi as guests of honour.

In his speech, Dr K Rajo said that cancer is a deadly disease which can affect any person and cited the report of World Health Organisation (WHO) and ICMR which says that the death rate from cancer and non-communicable diseases is 60 per cent.

Pointing out that environmental pollution and consuming unhealthy foods increase the risk of cancer, he stressed the need for early diagnosis of the illness.

Installing cancer basic screening and risk assessment booth at Khwairamband Ima Keithel will benefit not only the women vendors of the market but also the people nearby, Dr Rajo continued, while urging to avail benefit of the booth and save precious life.
