As part of its ongoing civic action programme, the Assam Rifles has constructed and inaugurated the extension of the Three Mother's Art Gallery at Thangapat Mapal, Palace Compound, Imphal East today.
The event which marked an effort to preserve and promote the cultural heritage of Manipur was attended by W Boy, Councillor Ward No 19, Imphal Municipal Council and various other dignitaries.
Approximately 50 individuals attended the inaugural function.
According to a press release issued by IGAR (S), this new extension, which includes an additional museum shed for visitors, aims to serve the growing interest and aspirations of the local community, while upholding the traditional values of the Assam Rifles.
Notably, the Three Mother's Art Gallery is renowned for its unique collection of wood carvings and provides a deep insight into the region's rich artistic heritage.
The gallery has already gained significant acclaim with its exhibits having been showcased at various prestigious platforms including the India International Trade Fair in New Delhi.
Many of these art pieces have been sold to buyers at both the national and international levels, highlighting the immense appeal and quality of the work.
With the newly constructed extension, including a dedicated visitor's room, the gallery is set to further enhance its reputation as a key attraction for both local visitors and tourists.
This initiative will not only serve as a hub for cultural exchange but also contribute to the economic upliftment of the region by promoting local artisans and their work on a global stage, concluded the IGAR (S) statement.
