Panchayat polls vote count on in earnest

Imphal, September 17, 2012:
Counting of votes for the 4th General Panchayat election held on September 13 began this morning at the district headquarters of Imphal West, Imphal East, Thoubal and Bishnupur as well sub-divisional headquarters of Jiribam amidst tight security arrangements.
Till the time of filing this report, counting of votes for one Zilla Parishad Member, three Pradhans and 32 Ward Members has been completed under Sawombung Returning Officer (RO) in Imphal East district.
Counting of votes for another Zilla Parishad Member, six Pradhans and 32 Members was in progress.
Under Porompat RO, counting of votes has been completed for two Zilla Parishad Members, six Pradhans and 46 Members while vote count under Keirao RO has been completed for one Zilla Parishad Member, three Pradhans and 25 Members.
Under ADC Jiribam, counting of votes has been completed for one Zilla Parishad Member, three Pradhans and 25 Members.
Counting of votes for one Zilla Parishad Member, eight Pradhans and 24 Members have been completed under Patsoi RO of Imphal West district.
Under Lamsang RO, counting of votes for one Zilla Parishad Member, two Pradhans and 20 Members has been completed so far.
Under Wangoi RO, votes for one Zilla Parishad Member, three Pradhans and 28 Members have been completed.
In Bishnupur district, counting of votes for three Pradhans and 55 Members has been completed under Nambol RO while votes for three Pradhans and 54 Members have been already counted under Bishnupur RO.
By this time, counting of votes for 110 Members has been completed under Moirang RO.
In Thoubal district counting of votes for two Pradhans and 89 Members have been completed under Lilong RO as votes for two Zilla Parishad Member, five Pradhans and 59 Members have been counted under Thoubal RO.
Under Kakching RO, counting of votes for two Zilla Parishad Member, four Pradhans and 43 "Members have been completed.
Votes which could not be counted today would be counted tomorrow.
Meanwhile, polling station number 1/2/2 Nongada Part II went to poll today after the polling station was left out from voting on September 13 after a serious goof-up in the symbol of a candidate.
The particular polling station recorded 80 per cent poll percentage today.
