Imphal, February 17 2025: A legal awareness programme for educational professionals was held today at the Conference Hall of Manipur AIDS Control Society (MACS), R&D Wing, Lamphelpat.

The programme was organised by the Community Network for Empowerment (CoNE) under the aegis of MACS on the topic, "HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control Act 2017".Speaking on the occasion, RK Nalinikanta, president, CoNE highlighted the need for people living with HIV/AIDS to be able to live full lives with their human rights intact.

They should be aware that people who discriminate against them can be penalised under the HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control Act 2017, he said.

RK Nalinikanta urged society to stop looking down on people living with HIV/AIDS.

Dr Kh Shasheekumar, State Ombudsman Officer also graced the event as a resource person.

Educators from different parts of Imphal West district attended the event.
