TSA condemns attack

Thadou Students' Association, General Headquarters (TSA-GHQ) condemned in the strongest term the ambush laid on Colonel Viplav Tripathi's convoy, commanding officer of 46 Assam Rifles that claimed the life of the officer, his wife and son, along with four soldiers near Behiang T village cemetery in Churachandpur district on November 13 morning by two underground outfit.
The assailants used sophisticated weapons, including automatic rifles, IEDs and lathdde bombs to attack the convoy wherein the commanding officer, his wife and son and four other soldiers were killed, while 6 other soldiers were injured severely, TSA recounted.
It continued that the unprovoked firing, bombing and premeditated attack has inflicted maximum casualties and deaths; this could have also caused deaths and heavy casualty to dozens of civilians, including women and.
children who were in Behiang T village but fortunately were saved from the attackers.
"TSA can also never accept the ambush and killing of the wife and son of Colonel Viplav Tripathi.
The armed militant group responsible for this horrible terror attack must clarify to the public why they carried out such devilish attack in the community.
The government must also clarify why they continue to allow some armed group/s to continue their criminal, anti-social and terror activities to the detriment of peace and public safety, and not taken any effective preventative or deterrent measures," the association said.
It then demanded, "For justice in the incident and for lasting peace and security in and around international border areas, the government authorities must take stringent punitive actions against the perpetrators, immediately arrest all those involved in the attack and the masterminds and bring them to justice and also remove them permanently from border and its surrounding" .
