PIMMSAA hosts 1st foundation day

The first foundation day of Pan India Manipuri Meitei Scientists and Academicians' Association (PIMMSAA) was observed today at the seminar hall of Manipur University, Chemistry Department.
The ceremony was accompanied by the distribution of PIMMSAA's Community Resilient Educational Financial Support (CREFS) award.
The event was graced by Professor Ngangkham Nimai, former Head of Physics Department; Dr Lairenlakpam Robindro, general secretary, PIMMSAA; Nongmaithem Rajen, Head of Chemistry Department and Professor N Rajmuhon, former Vice Chacellor, Dhanamanjuri University as the chief guest, guest of honour and special invitee respectively.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Sorokhaibam Somarendro, joint secretary, PIMMSAA said that scientists from Manipur scattered across the nation were brought together to form the Association last year.
Stating that PIMMSAA.
was founded with the goaf of extending aid to those impacted by the Manipur crisis, he shared that so far the organisation has successfully assisted many students and people in relief camps.
He further shared that the CREFS awards were conferred to students in relief camps who secured the highest marks in various streams.
The CREFS award comes with Rs 10,000 in cash, a memento and a certificate, he added.
During the ceremony the CREFS award was handed over to three students and cash awards and certificates were distributed to 139 interally displaced students.
