CM urges indigenes to defeat divisive forces

Calling upon the indigenous communities to rise together, and extend hands of peace and friendship, chief minister N Biren opined that divisive forces have been given space to hold sway over our population, through instruments of threat and intimidation.
In his Independence Day message to the people, the CM pointed out that as people have been made to believe that communities who have been living together for ages, can be divided at the will of a few vested interests, celebration of the Independence Day serves as an occasion to remind ourselves of the need to free ourselves of such evil forces.
He added, "It is time we rise together, extend hands of peace and friendship, and be willing to listen with patience as equally as the urge to speak, in our efforts towards restoration of normalcy".
The CM acknowledged the shared history and common living space of indigenous communities in Manipur.
He expressed gratitude to those working towards a collective approach to overcome prevailing challenges and appealed for cooperation towards lasting peace and normalcy.
Meanwhile, asserting that it is impossible to disintegrate or destroy Manipur as long as the present government exists, Biren appealed to people of the state not to worry.
The chief minister on Wednesday also flagged off a bike rally organised as part of the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign being held across the country ahead of the Independence Day celebration.
The rally jointly organised by the home department and YAS department was flagged off from Hapta Kangjeibung, Imphal East and flagged in at Chingei Lampak near INA complex, Moirang in Bishnupur district.
In his address at the flag off venue, CM Biren said that 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign is being held under the initiative of PM Modi ahead of Independence Day celebration to showcase unity and strength of the country.
Stating that contribution of the people is indispensable to tackle elements inimical to unity and integrity of Manipur, he said the government is well aware of the suffering of the people due to the violence raging since May 3, 2023 and accordingly adopting overt as well as covert policies to address the crisis.
He also opined that the people have the right to raise demands but the present government do the needful to neutralise efforts and elements scheming to balkanise Manipur along with affirming that the government and the people have firm commitment to uphold territorial integrity of both Manipur and the country.
While commending participants of the bike rally being held at this crucial time, the chief minister appealed to the people of the state to contribute their rnite in building a strong and united India as well as Manipur.
Around 2000 bikers belonging to 24 organisations took part in the rally which was flagged in by DGP Rajeev Singh at the Moirang venue, where certificates were presented to all the participants.
The flagging off ceremony was also attended by IPR minister Dr Sapam Ranjan, DGP Rajeev, special chief secretary MH Khan and high ranking officials of home department and YAS department.
