Rally on World Migratory Bird Day held

Thoubal, October 13 2018: A public rally was flagged off by Chief Conservator of Forest (CCF) Th Mohendra Pratap from Mayang Imphal today in connection with the observance of "World Migratory Bird Day 2018" on the theme "Unifying Our Voices for Bird Conservation".

The rally was organized by Central Forest Division, Thoubal Forest Division in association with Unique Wildlife Protection Committee (UWPC) to spread awareness and message not to capture migratory birds which are seeking their habitat in different lake of the State.

The rally was flaged off from Mayang Imphal and passed through different area of Mayang Imphal and culminated at Puja Mandop, Mayang Imphal Bazar.

Regarding the rally, CCF Mohedra Pratap said that "World Migratory Bird Day" was observed on every 2nd Saturday of May and October of the year worldwide.

He continued that the rally was held to seek cooperation from the public to stop killing migratory birds and save them from the clutch of predators.

He said that the migratory birds is instrumental in preserving the balance of nature by acting as agents of ecosystem.

The rally was also attended by DFO, Central Forest RK Amarjit, Conservator Central Forest Joykumar, DFO Thoubal L Debala, Ranger Officer Kakching N Munal, students and club members.
