Imphal, February 13 2020:
Student's wing and women's wing of Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) carried out an ILP drive cum awareness at Nagamapal Esing Chaibi today.
Speaking on the occasion, JCILPS convenor K Dhiren said that, after the implementation of ILPS in the State, the volunteers of JCILPS have come out to check if the non-locals in the State are holding ILP pass /permit apart from organising a mass awareness drive about the permit.
The drive aims to strengthen the implementation of the ILPS in the State with support and co-ordination of the people and to raise awareness on how to acquire the permit, its renewal etc, added the convenor.
The guidelines created on December 31, 2019 does not include a base year nor gave a proper definition of "indigenous people', Dhiren said.
He added that the joint committee had repeatedly appealed the Government to straighten the matter but no positive response has been given till date.
Saying that temporary pass/permit is being given to non-locals in Jiribam district, he urged the State Government to issue regular passes at the earliest.
