Imphal, April 12 2013 :
While pledging all possible measures to ensure justice to the family of Ningombam Satyabhama Devi, Manipur State Commission for Women chairperson Dr L Ibetombi Devi emphasised that cooperation of the masses will be ultimately be the decisive factor in speeding up the justice delivery system.
Interacting with newspersons at the Lamphelpat office of the Commission today, Dr Ibetombi cautioned that rather than spreading rumours or making unverifiable claims the general public need to provide vital clues towards bringing out the true picture on the brutal murder of Satyabhama Devi, who was a Junior Research fellow in Pathology Department, RIMS.
Conveying that Commission members had visited Satyabhama's home to collect relevant details on the case, the chairperson disclosed of the victim's father namely N Tomba having filed a complaint to the Commission on April 7 with an earnest appeal to ensure justice is not delayed.
Not ruling out possibility of the Commission re-examining the murder case so that those involved in the killing of Satyabhama have no room for escape, she suggested that police authorities reveal progress of its investigation along with detailing forensic science and post mortem reports as far as possible.
Further opining that all the culprits should face exemplary punishment for their heinous acts, Dr Ibetombi cautioned that any leniency against accused persons would only lead to more similar brutal crimes against women and children.
