Lamshang Police took formally custody of Sapam Shantikumar in connection with the killing of rape accused Laiphrakpam Sana Ningthem on January 4 at Lamdeng Khunou.
The accused UNLF cadre Sapam Shantikumar alias Monaotomba (44) s/o S Mani Meitei of Keibi Kumuda Maning Leikai, was produced before Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal West, by Lamphel Police with a prayer of Judicial custody remand.
In the meantime, Lamshang Police also filed an application prayer for formal arrest of the accused in connection with the killing of rape accused Laiphrakpam Sana Ningthem s/o L Inaobi of Lamdeng Makha Leikai on January 4, at around 11 am, at Lamdeng Khunou, under Lamshang Police Station.
The Court heard the application prayer and allowed it and the accused S Shantikumar was taken into police custody for further investigation of the case.
It may be mention that on February 9, Lamphel Police submitted before the Court that the accused S Shantikumar had reveal that the around 10 cadres, including himself, were given specific training in June, last year, at Tamu (Myanmar) and briefed with the task for killing people who were involved in rape cases in the State and in August, they were sent from their CHQ to execute their assigned task.
It was also mentioned by Lamphel Police that according to S Shantikumar, some of the cadres were given bombs and explosive training at their camp under one Major Achou and those who under went the training, were the responsible for the recent blast at M Sector near Polo ground on January 15, the twin blasts at Imphal Polo Ground ( Mapal Kangjeibung) on February 5 and the blast inside the Assam Rifle Transit camp on February 6 and also alleged that S Shantikumar had reveal that bombings will be carried out during the month of February to celebrate the anniversary of MPA ( Manipur People's Army) .
