The National Highway 137 (A) from Waheng Leikai to Kakching Lamkhai may be expanded to make it 10 metres wide with additional 1.5 metres on both sides as paved shoulders.
Reliable sources said that the Public Works Department is finishing all necessary works for the expansion.
The expansion work will be taken up under the funding of the Ministry of Road, Transport and Highways, Government of India.
Tender for selecting DPR (Detailed Project Report) consultant is almost over.
Land acquisition matters will be known and finalised after the DPR is processed by the consultant, said the sources.
Meanwhile, process is on to renovate and reconstruct the dilapidated section of Sangsad-Tengnoupal road under funding of the North Eastern Council (NEC), said the sources.
On the hand, works to build Imphal Ring Road and Imphal bypass road (Moreh-Mao), which will skirt Imphal city, have been stopped without reasons.
The DPR for the Imphal bypass road was prepared by CE Testing Private Limited, said the sources.
