Seram Mangi no more, many condole

Renowned broadcaster and activist Seram Mangi, passed away at his residence at Singjamei Kshetri Leikai following cardiac arrest this morning.
He was 68 and is survived by his wife, three sons and three daughters.
Seram Mangi was the son of late S Tombirei of Singjamei Kshetri Leikai.
He worked as News Reader in AIR, Imphal from 1968 to 1982 and passed Indian Information Service (IIS) in 1982.Subsequently, he was promoted as News Editor of AIR, Imphal.
Seram Mangi retired from service in 2001 and joined Congress Party and contesting in the State Assembly election from Thongju A/C.He was also the present Chairman of Media Department, MPCC.
Mangi Singh was a renowned broadcaster and media activist, who moderated and participated in various media workshops, seminars and symposia.
He was also an approved Lyricist of AIR, Imphal and had published three Manipuri Poetry books.
Seram Mangi was also the Founder President of All Manipur Sports Journalists Association and the Secretary, Touryatrik Kala Vikas Sanga Nat College, Imphal (1990-2000), the founder member of All Manipur Music Association and chief Editor of 'Raga Ranga' published by AMMA.
Moreover, he was the Executive member of Sangeet Mandal and Founder member of Writers Forum.
Prior to joining AIR, Imphal and politics, Mangi served as Teacher in various schools such as Meetei Mayek High School (1964), Praja High School, Lamsang (1965) and Hindi High School, Akampat (1966).He was also the General Secretary of All Manipur Students' Union during 1966-1967 and the Founder of Manipur State Scouts Union, Secretary of Ideal Girls College (1973 to 1980) and founder General Secretary of South East Youth Oganisation.
Meanwhile, All Manipur Working Journalists' Union (AMWJU) and Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee have expressed condolence over the passing away of Seram Mangi and shared in the loss of the bereaved family members.
