Imphal, September 11 2019: The Manipur Public Works Department Engineers Association (MPEA) has condemned the arrest of Th Ranjit Singh, Executive Engineer, Bishupur Division, PWD.

The engineers' association in a statement today alleged that "the Vigilance Department appears to have not followed the practised norms of proper investigation and verification of works by expert technical examiner prior to taking up harsh FIR" against the senior engineer officer.

It asserted that lack of transparency in the 'system' is affecting the engineers in carrying out their duties efficiently.

"The MPEA feels that the system as a whole needs to be improved to bring more transparency and accountability while executing developmental works so that the engineers are able to carry out their duties efficiently and effectively for betterment of the State," said the association.

An emergency General Body Meeting was held on September 9 and 10 regarding the matter, MPEA said.
