AR pays tribute to braveheart

CHANDEL, Jan 11: Assam Rifles conducted a wreath-laying ceremony at Battalion Headquarters, Modi, Chandel today to honor the extraordinary valor and sacrifice of Major Anurag Srivastava, Shaurya Chakra (P), who laid down his life in the service of the nation on January 11, 1996 .
According to a press release issued by IGAR (S), the late braveheart served as the Company Commander in Kupwara, Jammu & Kashmir and displayed unmatched courage during an operation against heavily armed terrorists.
Despite coming under intense enemy fire, he neutralized two terrorists and sustained severe injuries while rescuing a wounded comrade, ultimately making the supreme sacrifice for his country.
The ceremony was attended by three officers, 14 Junior Commissioned Officers (JCOs), and 75 Assam Rifles personnel, who paid heartfelt tributes and accorded a guard of honor, reaffirming the force's commitment to honoring its brave heroes.
