MLA highlights projects taken up in Singhat AC

MANIREDA chairman and Singhat MLA Ginsuanhau Zou on Friday highlighted the developmental works undertaken during his tenure as elected representative of Singhat assembly constituency.
Speaking to media persons at his official residence at Babupara, Imphal, Ginsuanhau Zou contended that the constituency had been devoid of any developmental works before his tenure and after his first election as the people's representative in 2012, signs of development could be seen particularly since the coming of BJP government in 2017 .
The two-time MLA also expressed gratitude to central and state BJP governments for showing keen interest in developing the border region.
"Singhat AC since 1972 had never seen any development works and successive MLAs and governments always side-lined the constituency," chipped in social worker Tongkai Baite from Sangaikot, who was also present at the press meet.
He stated that Singhat area, situated in the border region of the state, has never been on the development map for several years.
Baite continued that, however, with the election of GS Haupu as an MLA from the constituency in 2012, at least some development works are noticeable.
Moreover, with the coming of BJP government in the state, Singhat AC has grown by leaps and bounds in terms of development, he asserted.
Pursuing his commitment to facelift Singhat AC, the local MLA undertook various initiatives to bring the constituency at par with others - developing required infrastructure, health and education sector, Baite mentioned, while adding that the upgrade of Singhat Community Health Centre to the status of a Sub-District Hospital was one such development work, the benefits of which are being availed by the people today.
Baite further conveyed that some of the developmental works undertaken by Ginsuanhao included construction of Chura-Sugnu road at a cost of Rs 48 crore; construction of Residential School at Singhat at a cost of Rs 25 crore; construction of teacher transit accommodation at Singhat; construction of cultural hall; water supply for Singhat Sub-Divisional HQ and creation of Suangdoh Sub-Division and construction of SDO Office.
Behiang PHC has also become fully functional since 2013 while link road from Singngat to Behiang under BRO; construction of Sad-bhavna Mandop at Sangaikot and Singhat; Behiang police station made fully functional with quarters and office; renovation of Sangaikot police station; upgrade of Suangdoh PHSC to PHC; construction of Behiang Boys and Girls Hostel; up-gradation of Singhat High School to Higher Secondary School and installation of solar street light for all village churches and chief's house of Singngat AC are some other achievements of the MLA, he informed.
Baite also stated that other works include construction of PHSC building at Tuaiteng-phai, Sangaikot PHC, Ngaljang PHSC and up-gradation of Tuaitengphai PHSC to PHC and Saikot PHC to CHC, water supply connectivity in 126 village under JJM, construction of waiting sheds, improvement of village roads, play grounds, additional class rooms, school building for upper primary schools, primary schools, Health and Wellness Centres, distribution of solar lamps for students, all free of cost including subsidy, etc.
