'Money withdrawn before completing toilets construction work'

Jiribam, November 10 2014: Well ahead of completion of works for construction of toilets in nine primary and upper primary schools under the SSA in Jiribam sub-division, the contractors have allegedly withdrawn the money sanctioned for the works.

On being asked, the Zonal Education Officer concerned has not given any proper reply.

If the constructions are not completed at the earliest possible, the Kangleipak Student Association, Jiribam Branch is set to take action in this regard.

This was stated by President U Rojen Singh, president KSA Jiribam Branch during the press meet held at its office at Kalinagar today morning.

He further informed mediapersons that an amount of Rs.45,000/- each for construction of latrine at nine schools in the Sub-division under SSA 2nd phase have been withdrawn.

During a survey conducted at the said schools, KSA Jiribam Branch team found out either incomplete constructions of toilets or even non-existence of any toilets.

The ZEO, DIs and AIs concerned have been remaining silent over the issue, the student leader asserted.

Advisor L Surendra Kumar Singh told the media that if the contractors are found having connivance with the staffs of the Zonal office, then KSA will take pu stringent action.

The nine schools under survey are Binselu LP School, Chandranathpur LP School, Chingdong Leikai Upper Primary School, Dholakhal L P School, Goakhal Primary School, Islambad L P School, Laltingkhal Primary School, Nungphou LP School and Sonapur Primary School.
