3 UG cadres arrested

Imphal, November 10 2011: Troops of 23 Assam Rifles of 10 Sector under HQ IGAR (South) launched operation in Nungshum area and apprehended one PREPAK cadre yesterday.

The arrested cadre has been identified as No.18381(Batch No.10,2007), S/S Sgt Major Konjengbam Amar alias Naocha (27), son of Brajagopal of Nungshum Mayai Leikai, Imphal East.

One .32 mm pistol with magazine and one live round recovered from him, claimed PRO IG AR (S) in a press release.

On the other hand, troops of 5/9 GR and 33 AR under 73 Mountain Brigade of the Red Shield Division arrested one KYKL cadre in a joint operation carried out today in Chingmai Banmon Leikai, district Bishnupur.

A press released issued by PIB (DW) stated that arrested cadre has been identified as S/S Pte Oinam Ahingjao Alair Pari (25) of Chingmai Banmon Leikai.

It is alleged that he was involved in extortion activities, later he was handed over to Moirang Police Station.

Meanwhile, Imphal West police commandos arrested one active member of Naga National Council (NNC) from Governor Road near Leima Shopping today around 2.15 pm.

In a press release, Imphal West District SSP, stated that the arrested person has been identified as Kamujei Reamei alias Ningthuilung of Rangkhung village in Tamenglong district.

One spot verification, he disclosed that he was working as Town Commander of Imphal under the command of one S/S Lt Lungningmei of Thingkao village, Nungba and was assigned to extort money from businessmen for party fund, it stated.

While in another incident, troops of 39 Assam Rifles of 27 Sector AR under the aegis of Red Shield Division recovered explosives in Sondo under Singhat Sub Division.

On a routine check at Songdo check point, a passenger bus travelling from Sinjol to Churachandpur was intercepted and 10 Gelatin Sticks, 30 Detonators alongwith safety fuses were recovered from one Paukhenmung (25), a residence of Singhat.

He was handed over to the Churachandpur Police Station, claimed a PIB (DW) press release.
