Imphal, September 10 2020: Condemning the incident where a minor girl was 'sexually assaulted' at Mayang Imphal recently, the Widow's Welfare Society Chandel (WWSC) district staged a sit in protest at Chandel DHqs.

The protestors demanded severe punishment to the rapist.

Placards inscribed with "Stop crime against women", "We condemn the brutal touture and killing of a 14 year old girl", "Furnish white paper for crime against women and children" were displayed by the women protesters.

Speaking to media persons, general secretary of the WWSC, Bs Shanglum demanded that rapists be arrested and reward stringent punishment for their inhumane act.

She said that the culprits involved in the heinous crime should not be spared so that such incidents do not recur.

Strongly condemning the thoughtless killing of SBI cash replenishment agent Arambam Rajen from Keirao Langdum, the Keirao Bitra Irilbung Library Union, Keirao Bitra Awang Leikai along with the Meira Paibis held a torch a rally yesterday evening.

The rally started from the ILU ground then proceeded towards Irilbung Keithel, Keirao Khunou and back to the ground where a public meeting was held.

The Moirang Kendra Apunba Meira Paibi Ima Lup (MAMPIL) also strongly condemned the killing of Arambam Ranjan and demanded befitting punishment for the culprits.

The lup also condemned the Mayang Imphal incident also and demanded stringent punishment to the culprits.
