Workshops on 'Brahma Taal', Lai Haraoba Jagoi conclude

The month-long workshop cum production on 'Brahma Taal' organised by Guru Irabot Institute of Manipur Culture (GIIMC) under the aegis of Ministry of Culture concluded at Sin suba Shanglen, Bashikhong on Sunday.
The valedictory function was attended by Padmashri Sh Thanil as chief guest and GIIMC president and State Kala Akademi awardee N Irabot as president while JN Manipur Dance Academy guru M Seityaban and Bashikhong High School headmistress N Sanatombi were present as guests of honour.
Delivering the key note address, GIIMC secretary N Tolensana Meetei said that the institute has been imparting training on Meetei Pung and 'dhol dholok cholom' since 2009 along with adding Manipuri dance as another course in tune with the changing times.
Pointing out that 'Brahma Taal' is one of the most important 'taals' in Sankritan, Tolensana maintained that the workshop has been organised to make the young students acquainted on the performing art form with the stated objective to contribute towards preservation of the same for the future generation.
Meanwhile, the month-long workshop cum production on Lai Haraoba Jagoi organised by Yoiyai Traditional Cultural Centre under the sponsorship of Ministry of Culture concluded on Sunday at Nin gomthong Sairom Leirak community hall.
Manipur State Kala Akademi former secretary S Videshwar and Kyamgei Ideal High School headmistress Th Tombisana attended the valedictory function as chief guest and president respectively while Sahitya Akademi award winning writer Saratchand Thiyam and Rupmahal Theatre director L Brajamohon were present as guests of honour.
