Mao CSOs vow to sustain battle against Covid

Mao civil society organisations under the aegis of Mao Council on Thursday extended assistance to the state health department in the fight against the dreaded Covid-19 pandemic and pledged to contribute their mite till complete eradication of the infectious disease.
The Mao CSOs took up the noble initiative to send a strong message that the battle against the Covid-19 pandemic needs a joint action and that the public should not rely on the government alone.
The Mao CSOs handed over 10 five-litre oxygen concentrators, 30 pulse oximeters, 200 PPE kits, 200 N95 masks and 10,000 three-ply face masks.
The items and medical equipment were handed over to Chief Medical Officer, Senapati and Medical Officers in charge of Sub-District Hospital Mao and Tadubi Community Health Centre.
The handing over ceremony was blessed by executive secretary of Mao Baptist Churches Association (MBCA) Rev Koda and Mao Catholic Association (MCA) president Lowli.
The Mao CSOs have been playing an important role in spreading awareness among the masses on the importance of social distancing and vaccination.
At the handing over ceremony, Mao Council president stated that many people have been affected by Covid-19 in the state including Senapati district, thus prompting the Mao Council in coordination with other CSOs to extend assistance to the state and the district administration.
According to the president, the noble initiative was made possible with the support of Mao Churches, namely Mao Baptist Churches Association, Mao Catholic Association, Mao Christian Revival Churches and Mao Seventh-Day Adventist, which financed the CSOs for the medical equipment.
The CSOs had distributed face masks & PPE kits to respective village task forces in coordination with the village authorities to all Mao villages in Senapati district, the Council president added.
CMO Senapati Dr Pfokreho Pfoze, in his speech, expressed happiness over the generous donation.
The CMO said that such in-kind donation would boost healthcare workers' morale and enable them to manage their respective CHCs, PHCs and PHSCs efficiently.
