10 JAC members courting arrest held

Imphal, August 09 2019: The convener of the JAC against the mysterious death of Babysana was arrested by a team of Imphal West district police today evening, while 9 members of the JAC and Thangmeiband United club were also pulled up by police from near ABC Godown after they courted arrest before the police today afternoon.

It may be mentioned yesterday, that the JAC strongly condemned the police for trying to arrest the JAC and TUC members who were demanding justice for Babysana and demanding the immediate and unconditional release of the JAC co-convener Leishangthem Pratap and TUC executive member Joykumar (who were earlier picked up) before 10 am today.

During the protest the JAC had announced that 10 of its members and of TUC would court arrest before the police.

Today, 9 members of the JAC along with a large number of locals gathered at Naodingong Lampak and began proceeding towards the main road of Thangmeiband after going along Khoyathong Polem Leikai opposite ABC godown where they courted arrest.

Soon 9 members of the JAC and the TUC, were taken along by police to Imphal PS at around 1.30 pm.

On the other hand, the convener of the JAC was pulled up by a team of Imphal West district police at around 5.40 pm from Thangmeiband Muji Leirak.
