Next hearing of CRAPDB on Dec 14

The 9th public hearing of Committee on Re-organization of Administrative and Police District Boundaries (CRAPDB) is scheduled to be held on December 14 .
Following a state Cabinet meeting, the government of Manipur set up the Committee on Re-organization of Administrative and Police District Boundaries (CRAPDB) on August 26 last to study and review the present district boundaries of the state in the wake of demand for creation of more revenue districts.
The Committee headed by Chief Secretary DS Poonia as Chairman was supposed to submit its report to the government within 3 months of its formation.
The deadline, however, has been extended to facilitate hearing of applicants whose statements could not be recorded within the time period fixed by the state Cabinet.
According to information received by the press, altogether 82 applicants, including civil society bodies and individuals, submitted their applications before the Committee for recording their statements.
However, the Committee selected around 34 civil society bodies and individuals to commence its public hearing.
Out of these 34 applicants, the statements of 24 have been recorded and 10 others did not turn up.
Along with extension of the deadline for submitting its report, the Committee is all set to resume its hearing so as to give a chance to hear the remaining applicants as well as those who failed to turn up earlier.
