13 dengue cases confirmed in Manipur

After eleven persons from Churachandpur District and Moreh town of Chandel District were confirmed affected by dengue few days back, the total number of cases has now risen to 13 after one each from Moreh and Sekta have been confirmed positive on Thursday.
Sources in Directorate of Health Services informed that the two cases were confirmed on Thursday after 13 samples were collected from three districts (Churachandpur, Chandel and Imphal East) and tested at RIMS hospital.
Earlier, 13 samples were collected from Moreh alone but only eleven were tested, out of which just one was confirmed positive.
Two of the samples got spoiled while in transition.
Apart from the eleven samples from Moreh, two more samples, one each from Churachandpur and Imphal East's Sekta were tested.
Of the two, Sekta sample was confirmed positive.
The source informed that the person from Sekta had gone to Delhi recently for some work and returned to Imphal on September 30 last.
After a while, he started showing symptoms for fever and was admitted to a private hospital.
Meanwhile, in connection with the confirmation of more dengue cases in the state, a team of Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP) under the Health Directorate will visit and inspect identified areas on Friday.
