Ambulance with life-saving equipment for Wangoi CHC soon: MLA Lukhoi

Assuring all possible help in availing proper health care system in Wangoi Assembly Constituency, MLA of the constituency, Oinam Lukhoi called upon the doctors, nurses, ASHAs and staff of Wangoi CHC to execute their duty with sincerity and dedication.
He was speaking as the chief guest at the observance of World Kidney Day organised by Wangoi CHC, Imphal West under .NPCDCS at its premises today on the theme "Kidney & Women's Health: Include, Value, Empower".
Lauding the role taken by doctors and staff working in health care system as divine work, MLA Lukhoi urged the doctors and staff of the CHC to execute their duty by registering in their mind that their task is to make best attempts to save lives of patients.
He said that he will take the responsibility to pressurise the authorities concerned for providing the needful infrastructure in the CHC from time to time.
He reminded that Wangoi CHC was among the CHCs/ dispensaries selected for providing air ambulances equipped with the facility of life saving drugs.
The MLA then informed that such an ambulance will be available in Wangoi CHC soon.
He also underscored the importance of creating awareness amongst the masses on various health related issues and the facilities available in the CHC.
Maintaining that participation of locals in organising health related programmes in localities is very important, he asked all the concerned, including ASHAs to inform the public in prior when a health related programme is to be held in the constituency.
Dr LK Saratchandra, Professor, Nephrology Unit, RIMS who attended the occasion as guest of honour conveyed that kidney diseases are silent killers and the diseases effect the quality of human life.
He highlighted the ways to reduce the risk of developing kidney disease.
He termed the ways as eight golden rules to keep kidney healthy.
He elaborated that keeping fit and active reduce blood pressure and consequently minimises the risk of chronic kidney disease.
He went on to say that conducting tests to check kidney functions is vital for early detection of kidney diseases.
He also advised diabetic patients to conduct kidney test regularly as damage of kidney by diabetes can be reduced or prevented if detected early.
Monitoring blood pressure, maintaining appropriate weight, avoiding cigarette smoking and abstaining consumption of tobacco products are some of the measures to tackle kidney diseases, he said.
Dr H KuUachandra, CMO/DMD, Imphal West while delivering his presidential speech noted that sensitising the public about the economic impact they have to bear at the time of getting treatment for kidney diseases is an important part of generating awareness about kidney diseases
among the populace.
