Aligarh, February 08 2014 :
The police have arrested Rizwan Khan, a co-accused in the murder of Arunachal Pradesh student Nido Taniam, from Noorpur Katra village in Uttar Pradesh.
Rizwan's brother Farman was the first to be arrested, while their friend and the third accused, Saddam, is still at large.
Both Rizwan and Saddam are minors.
The Delhi Police are planning to obtain 'kurki' (orders for attachment of property) to force Saddam to surrender.
Nido was brutally assaulted in Lajpat Nagar locality of Delhi on January 29 by the trio.
He had succumbed to his injuries later.
His death sharpened the debate on widespread discrimination faced by the people from northeast and triggered demonstrations.
Rizwan's father told Hindustan Times that his two sons had been working in Delhi for the last 10 years.
They had their own paneer shop, while Saddam had a cold drink shop in the city.
All three shared a room on rent.
According to the police investigation, Nido had gone to Rizwan and Farman's shop to inquire about some address, but the duo had teased him about his appearance and hair colour.
When he reacted angrily, the situation turned ugly.
Later, the two brothers allegedly called their friend Saddam over and beat up Nido badly.
A few youths had also joined them in beating the student, son of an Arunachal Pradesh MLA.
