Incentive for tying knots with differently abled persons

To ensure social integration of differently abled persons, 'Marriage Incentive Award for Marriage with Disable Persons', a scheme for providing incentive awards to all individuals who willingly enter into matrimony with differently abled persons is all set to be implemented in the State during current fiscal year.
A Gazette notification in this regard has also been issued.
According to reports received from the Social Welfare Department, the State Government is trying its best to implement the scheme in the state very soon.
Under the current fiscal year (2012-2013), an amount of Rs 3 lakhs has been earmarked for providing incentive awards to individuals who tie the knot with differently abled person on their own volition.
The incentive awards would be made available to the worthy persons latest by the end of this year.
The report informed that the forms for availing the incentive awards would be dispensed through all the District Social Welfare Offices.
To oversee effective implementation of the scheme, a Monitoring Committee headed by Director of Social Welfare Department as Chairperson has already been forced and this Committee would also be handling selection of beneficiaries of the scheme.
Meanwhile, a Gazette notification issued in connection with implementation of the scheme has been published.
According to the notification, a person can apply for the award if he or she has been married to a differently abled person.
However, they should possess a marriage certificate and their marriage should be at least three years old.
The amount to be provided under the award would be fixed by the Monitoring Committee.
